Bridge maintenance costs extremely. Therefore bridge managers are required to use limited budget effectively and plan cost-efficient long-term strategies. This study intends to show an evaluation method for bridges usimg the Bridge Health Index(BHI) and examines how to use evaluation results for management of bridge. This study analyzes national highway bridges in Hokkaido、 Japan、 by applying two quantitative diagnostic methods. These are the BHI and the Bridge Integrity Evaluation(BIE)、 which have already been developed and reported previously by other authors. Moreover、 the Maintenance Necessity Level(MNL) is also proposed. It supports decision-making for repair or reinforcement of bridges. The MNL is evaluated synthetically in consideration of the integrity evaluation of the bridges and the social value and the traffic of the route. |
