This paper describes the structural characteristics and the stress condition at rigid connections of three-sided steel box girder and RC pier. Performance of three types of rigid connection (reinforcement penetration type、 bearing plate type and double composite type) was compared by experiment using scale models. The elastic loading test and FEM analysis was carried out in order to investigate the mechanism of the elastic stress flow in the region of rigid connection. Furthermore、 the static cyclic loading test was conducted to evaluate the ultimate strength and failure mode and to obtain the experimental date to establish the design methods of rigid connections. |
