| How can road authorities improve the deteriorated traffic function of winter roadways? First and most important step is to understand winter traffic patterns quantitatively、 and "Floating Car Data" might stimulate it. Our institute attempts to analyze the pattern in Sapporo Metropolitan Area with applying "Floating Car Data (Taxi GPS Data)" by the cooperation of a taxi company. With 115 taxies、 it is possible to understand the pattern not only arterials but also other local roadways with different days and times. This paper outlines the system configuration and the ongoing activities to understand the patterns in the City of Sapporo. |
