In this paper、 in order to investigate the impact-resistant behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs with cushion material as a model of the roof slab of a rockfall protection gallery、 large-scale falling-weight impact tests were conducted using different cushion materials. The slabs were simply supported at two opposite edges and the other two edges were free. Two types of absorbing material were applied; sand and gravel. From this study、 the following results were obtained; 1) absorbing performance of the sand cushion is superior to that of the gravel cushion; 2) impact force can be better predicted by using a conventional formula derived from Hertz’s contact theory with Lame’s constant λ = 1、000 kN/㎡; and 3) the sand cushion can better disperse the impact force than the gravel cushion. |
