With the aim of extending the service life of steel bridges、 the authors have proposed that such bridges be washed in order to extend their repainting interval. Toward practical introduction of bridge washing、 we developed a steam bridge washer equipped with a head unit for steam washing. We used the washer in washing performance tests on bridges in different environments in order to develop a performance indicator of its effectiveness in removing attached grime、 develop efficient、 effective washing methods toward practical introduction、 and identify issues in practical introduction、 such as the washing speed. This paper reports the results of washing tests at three bridges. |
