Bank erosion causes disasters in floods．As a countermeasure against disasters．Protection works have been arranged to prevent erosions．This measure does not aim to eliminate the cause of erosion itself．But aims to protect banks to bear the force causing erosion，in this way，banks have been changed from natural conditions to the present artificial conditions．［＊］Recently，environmental problems of rivers have become major social issues，and drawing up river improvement plans leaving the natural conditions as much as possible is desirable，as erosion by estimating accurately where and what scale of erosion occurs on banks is necessary．In this study，experiments on a meandering water channel with erosive banks were made to find the factors most influential on bank erosion and to examine the relation of protection works with transitions of the shape of a river channel and the amount of sediment production．

抄録
