In this paper,FRP(Fiber Reinforced Plastic)tape winding method was proposed as one of seismic retrofit methods for RC piers.Ductility improvement of RC piers retrofitted with FRP tape winding was experimentally discussed comparing with the results obtained from the cases of both AFRP(Aramid FRP)and CFRP(Carbon FRP)tape winding and case of no winding.Lateral alternative loading test was conducted by using 1/3rd to 1/5th scales RC pier models,of which rebar arrangement was stepped and a 20tf weight lead block was set on to mock the weight of superstructure.From this study,following results were obtained;1)Ductility near the rebar arrangement stepped was extremely im-proved by retrofitting with AFRP and/or CFRP tape winding.2)RC piers retrofitted with AFRP and CFRP tape winding tend to collapse due to rebar buckling and tape rupture at the corners,respectively.
